Chapter 104: War With Cobra: Part 2

Writer's picture: SGCaperSGCaper

The Cobra HEAT (Hunt & Eradicate Active Threats) is an elite group assembled to tackle the growing menace posed by the new G.I. Joe team, comprised of ten highly skilled operatives: Chuckles, Dialtone, Sneak Peek, Outback, Jinx, Grand Slam, Firewall, Bombstrike, Barrell Roll, and Black Out. Interestingly, all members, except for Black Out, were once esteemed members of the G.I. Joe team, known for their bravery and loyalty to their cause and country. Now, they have been lured into the formidable world of Cobra, transformed from heroes into the enemy with a singular objective: To locate and eliminate the new G.I. Joe team before they can establish themselves as a credible threat to Cobra Commander's growing empire.

They have not been successful.

Despite their training and resources, the Cobra HEAT faced significant challenges. They had not achieved the level of success anticipated by their commanders. Operations have repeatedly faltered, and intelligence has proved unreliable, raising questions about the efficacy of their mission.

As the failures stacked up, whispers of discontent began circulating among the senior members of Cobra's upper echelon: LtCol Bludd, Major Onesi, Tombstone, and others. In clandestine meetings, away from the authoritative gaze of Cobra Commander, these high-ranking officials expressed their suspicions that the former G.I. Joe operatives may be engaging in a covert campaign of sabotage. They believed the Joe traitors were intentionally failing in their missions, motivated by a skewed loyalty to the rebel forces that had taken on the name of G.I. Joe.

Despite the seriousness of their suspicions, these senior members of Cobra find themselves at a crossroads. They possess little concrete evidence to support their theories, relying solely on conjecture and instinct. This uncertainty has made them reluctant to escalate their concerns to Cobra Commander, fearing the repercussions of such accusations without definitive proof.

As they grapple with this dilemma, the decision to remain silent may ultimately place Cobra's operations in further jeopardy and be all of their undoing.
