Shockblast served with Shockwave in the Detroit Police Department. When Shockwave left to join the military, Shockblast took the lead position. He later decided to enlist in the military, becoming an Army Ranger and serving with distinction.
When Shockwave was asked who the Joe team should recruit, his old friend was top of the list. Shockblast serves as Assistant Team Leader for the SWAT unit. When multiple teams are deployed, he takes the top spot on the team he is attached to.
